Methodology
With an emphasis on collaborative learning and project work, this class allows learners to work together to complete a project in English and to critically assess their work. It is used to practice the skills of English in a meaningful and fun way.
Content
Each week the class works towards completing a project and assessing it. Lessons are used to input necessary language and structures, to collaboratively design assessment tools, to design and create a project (e.g. a presentation comparing international cuisines/a proposal for a new app/a radio play) to assess, to give feedback and to give learners the opportunity to improve both their projects and their language skills.
Assessment
Placement test and needs analysis on arrival. Projects are collaboratively assessed by class members and the teacher.
Progress
This course focuses on improving learner confidence at using the language. Tangible projects provide a record of achievement.
Certification
All learners who complete the required coursework receive a certificate and report.
Learning Support
Online learning management system , study room, library, reflective learning journal feedback, wifi throughout school.
Materials
There is no core text-book for this course. The teacher uses graded and authentic materials to support the learner journey.
